About the artist:
Artist Itzchak Tarkay was born is 1935 in Austria. His Family spent a year in a concentration camp during WWII, and emigrated to Israel shortly after the war. In Israel, he studied art and attended the Avni Art Academy. Tarkay became world renowned for his colorful cafe scenes and confident, bold depictions of women. His expressionistic paintings and prints are reminiscent of Matisse and Toulouse-Lautrec.
