Presenting a striking mid-century modern "Texteel" task chair manufactured by the Horton Manufacturing Company, circa 1950. Originally designed as an ergonomic seating solution for Machine Age home ironers, this chair has become a highly collectible industrial design piece, frequently celebrated by decorators for its structural silhouette reminiscent of Jean Prouvé's iconic work.
This piece features its signature curved enameled steel mesh backrest and seat, paired beautifully with tapered wooden legs. It retains its wonderful, authentic light teal/seafoam finish, offering the perfect amount of vintage character and industrial patina. Structurally sound, stable, and highly functional as a unique desk chair, accent piece, or side chair.
Acquired from the Los Angeles estate of Ken Hackman (1938-2025), the esteemed photojournalist known as the “Godfather” of Air Force visual information.
