Artist: HENRI CASSIERS (1858-1944)
Two lithographs depicting daily life in the Flemish region by famous water colorist Cassiers. In original wide and deep solid wood traditional frames with gilded three dimensional patterned detail.
Henri Cassiers (1858–1944) was an influential Belgian Art Nouveau artist, illustrator, and poster designer. He achieved international acclaim for his distinctive commercial graphics and evocative maritime watercolors.
He made these everyday life series, most often shown near the water. This set of two images of two season Spring and Summer is no exception, charmingly capturing the simple lives of the Flemish or Dutch working class. He captured daily life in the coastal fishing villages of Flanders and the Zeeland region of the Netherlands. His signature fine art style highlights traditional regional costumes, historic windmills, and moody harbor scenes. He was commissioned by the Red Star Line of ships to make similar art for their advertising posters.
Printer: O. de Rycker was a famous printing and lithography company in Brussels, Belgium, that created stunning Art Nouveau posters and commercial art in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

And the solid wood frames are sturdy and stable with some anticipated marks as shown in photos. The gilded trim is intact except for just a few chips that have been touched up with gilding making them hardly affecting the overall look of these classic art nouveau works of art and of history. less
