These chairs exhibit an exaggerated, sculptural Flared Tuxedo profile. The backrest dramatically tapers outward, creating an inviting, architectural presence.

MAKER: Founded by legendary interior designer Angelo Donghia in the late 1960s, Donghia became synonymous with "fat furniture"—oversized, incredibly comfortable lounge seating that defined elite, sophisticated interiors.
As per the original law tag (photo #18) , these chairs were manufactured at the dedicated Donghia production facility located at 4110 E. La Palma Avenue in Anaheim, California. Based on the font structure of the tag’s wording and the brand’s California production timeline, this pair was crafted between the late 1980s and the 1990s.

MATERIALS: The chairs are dressed in an exquisite Donghia archival cut-velvet damask. The pattern uses a shimmering silver-gray satin background contrasted by an elevated, tactile velvet vine-and-foliage scroll motif.
True to Donghia’s signature focus on luxury, the seat cushion insert features a 50% Down / 50% Feather blend wrapper over a high-resiliency foam core. This combination provides a plush "sink-in" seat that retains its shape. Hidden in the loose seat cushions are premium, hidden heavy-duty connectors that securely lock them directly onto the chair itself, preventing shifting while maintaining a seamless look.
The chairs rest on a solid wood structural apron base with minimalist, slightly flared saber legs finished in a deep ebonized lacquer.
