A striking mid-century modernist abstract oil composition dated 1965, and painted by the established Swedish artist Ture Fabiansson (1910-1994), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, The Museum of Art in Gothenburg, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and many others.

This painting explores the interplay of organic form, colour and movement. Large, loosely defined shapes gather and overlap across the canvas, creating a lively visual rhythm that feels simultaneously spontaneous and carefully balanced. The forms remain deliberately ambiguous, inviting associations with leaves, petals or fragments of the natural world without resolving into a recognisable subject.

The palette is particularly distinctive, bringing together powdery blue, fresh lime green, warm brown, burnt orange and earthy brick red, punctuated by bold areas of charcoal black. Sections of creamy white provide moments of openness between the denser passages of colour, while the contrasting warm and cool tones give the composition its wonderful energy.

Stylistically, the painting has a distinctly mid-century modernist sensibility, with an emphasis on simplified organic forms and expressive colour rather than representation. There is an almost collage-like quality to the arrangement, as individual shapes appear layered, interlocked and suspended across the surface.

The brushwork is loose, visible and wonderfully tactile. Short, overlapping strokes remain evident within the larger blocks of colour, creating subtle variations in tone and texture. Rather than striving for perfectly polished edges, the artist allows the hand-painted quality of the work to remain visible, lending the composition an appealing immediacy and warmth.
