This Chinese scholars desk blends form and storytelling, with drawers and surfaces richly carved in figural scenes of warriors, landscapes, and architectural elements. The compact design integrates a bank of 13 small drawers with traditional motifs-arched bridges, robed figures, and pagodas-each panel chiseled in relief by hand. A matching chair completes the set, echoing the narrative with its own elaborate carving of a fortress scene on the backrest and symbolic lion mask faces on the cabriole-style legs. The seat retains its original, removable red silk cushion, protected with a clear vinyl dust cover. A glass writing surface has been added to preserve the carvings while still allowing daily function.
