A striking pair of vintage Mastercraft nightstands featuring richly figured burl wood accented with brass detailing and distinctive rounded corners.
Each nightstand is beautifully proportioned with a single wide drawer above a pair of cabinet doors, providing generous concealed bedside storage. The drawer fronts and cabinet doors are framed with slender brass-tone trim, while substantial half-moon brass pulls and rounded brass corner accents give the pair their unmistakable glamorous character.
The highly figured burl veneer is particularly attractive, displaying dramatic swirling grain and considerable variation across the tops, fronts, and sides. Rounded case edges soften the otherwise architectural silhouette, while recessed plinth bases give the cabinets a clean, substantial presence.
The combination of burl wood and brass is quintessentially late-20th-century luxury and allows these pieces to work especially well in Hollywood Regency, Modern Regency, Mid-Century Modern, and sophisticated contemporary interiors.
The nightstands have been restored after being acquired in considerably distressed condition. The restoration brought the wood surfaces and overall presentation back to a condition appropriate for continued use while retaining the character of these vintage pieces. The brass elements retain variation and patina consistent with age.
