A beautiful pair of antique Meissen porcelain plates from the Knauf period, dating to approximately 1860–1880, each finely hand-painted with an individual naturalistic floral bouquet.

The centres are decorated with vibrant arrangements of garden flowers in rich pinks, purples, blues, orange and yellow. Each composition is individually painted, with delicate tonal shading and finely observed botanical details characteristic of Meissen's accomplished floral decoration.

The broad scalloped rims feature a finely moulded osier, or basketweave, pattern in relief. This classic Meissen border provides a subtle textural contrast against the smooth white porcelain and is finished with a fine hand-applied gilt edge.

Although designed as a pair, the differing floral compositions give each plate its own character while creating a particularly attractive display when placed together.

Markings and Authenticity
Both plates bear the underglaze blue Meissen crossed swords Knauf mark, characteristic of the manufactory's Knauf period.

The crossed swords marks show no cancellation strokes and are consistent with first-quality production (Erste Wahl). The plates also bear the impressed number 13.

Condition
Very good antique condition with no chips, cracks or restorations.

There are minor original firing pinpricks to the glaze, visible in the photographs and consistent with the manufacturing process of the period.

The gilded rims remain bright with only light age-related wear.
