Constructed predominantly from beech, the chair has a wonderfully sculptural quality, with a series of individually fixed narrow timber slats forming both the seat and gently curved backrest. The back is subtly fanned and bowed for a particularly distinctive profile, while splayed rounded legs and crossed diagonal stretchers give the underframe an almost architectural quality.

The exposed slotted screw fixings form part of the chair's honest, functional construction and have developed attractive darkened halos within the timber over time. Variations in tone across the seat and back, together with the warm patina of the frame, give the piece considerable character without detracting from its clean modernist form.

The underside retains its original “Made in Yugoslavia” stamp, confirming its country of manufacture.

The precise manufacturer and designer remain unidentified. Research suggests the chair belongs to the broader tradition of mid-century Yugoslav furniture produced for the European export market, where high-quality beech, economical construction and modernist design were combined with more vernacular or craft-led influences.
