The exoskeletal frame, built from solid walnut, gives the chair a streamlined appearance that helps to balance its considerable scale. Hidden hardware connecting the seat to the frame gives the impression that the upholstered body floats within the wooden structure.

The high back, generously proportioned seat, and deep cushioning envelop the sitter in a cocoon of comfort. With nine reclining positions, the chair can be adjusted to suit everything from upright conversation to complete relaxation. To simply call the chair comfortable is to dramatically understate the case.

This set has been fully restored. The frames were professionally refinished and the chair bodies reupholstered in an ultrasoft chenille from Osborne & Little’s Lumiere collection.
