Introduced in 1954, the Thea model was designed by Yngve Ekström for Swedese, a company he founded in 1945 with his brother Jerker Ekström and Bertil Sjöqvist. Made of oak, the trolley features two shelves supported by four turned uprights. The upper shelf is bordered by a single continuous wooden element that extends along the corners, connects the uprights, and continues along the long side, forming a retaining edge that helps prevent items from slipping while moving. At the center, a white laminate insert creates a textural contrast with the oak. The table top features an extension system with movable side elements and integrated handles: when closed, it measures 71.5 cm in length, while with the extension leaf open, it reaches 101.5 cm, increasing the table surface by 30 cm. The lower shelf occupies the space defined by the uprights. The meticulous attention to woodwork and the simple construction reflect Ekström's background. He began his career in the Vaggeryd carpentry workshops before turning to design, maintaining a lifelong approach to design based on essentiality and quality of execution.
