A wonderful pair of vintage four-drawer chests by Chattahoochee Furniture Co., dating to the mid-20th century. Simple, beautifully made and full of character, each features four drawers with original wooden knobs, raised back splashes and petite casters.
Even better, both retain their old paper shipping labels identifying them as “#4 Chif. Chest” and showing they were originally shipped to Jas. F. Condon & Sons, King & Warren St., Charleston, South Carolina. Condon’s was a longtime Charleston department store, giving this pair a particularly fun piece of Lowcountry history.
The chests have been cleaned and revived while preserving their aged finish, color variation and decades of character. Their tall, narrow proportions make them fantastic bedside chests or nightstands and yes, I absolutely love them used that way.

Expect scratches, scuffs, stains, finish and color variation, small wood losses, old repairs and other imperfections consistent with age and use. The tops show noticeable tonal variation and wear, and the drawer interiors retain old staining and marks. Original paper labels remain on the backs with considerable wear and losses. Casters show age and wear but remain present. One of the wood knobs has been repaired. less
