This double-moon porcelain flask vase features a delicately hand-painted, toile-like bucolic scene of country life. The imagery is painted in a rusty red leaning towards warm brown. At first glance, you might mistake it for transferware, but a closer look at the scene, which repeats on both discs, reveals the subtle differences most noticeable in the figures.
The painting depicts an abundance of pondside botanicals and foliage, a gentleman fishing, and a maiden watching nearby. The background depicts a mill, barn, trees, and ducks flying overhead on the vase stems, terminating in wetland grass trimming the plinth bases
