Substantial in both scale and weight, the sculpture has the impressive presence and craftsmanship associated with the finest decorative metalwork of the period.

The horse is exceptionally well modeled, from the expressive face and finely rendered mane to the muscular contours of the body, slender legs, saddle, stirrups, and bridle. Decades of age have given the metal a wonderful green-bronze and copper-toned patina, adding depth and character while beautifully emphasizing the sculptural details. The horse stands upon a textured integral platform that is mounted to a substantial green veined marble base, providing an elegant contrast to the warm aged metal while giving the sculpture considerable visual and physical weight.

Measuring approximately 11 inches wide, 11.75 inches high, and 4.5 inches deep, the sculpture weighs an impressive 10 pounds. Its generous proportions make it large enough to command attention without overwhelming a room. Good antique condition with darkened age oxidized patina. Although unmarked, the quality, subject matter, construction, and overall style are strongly reminiscent of pieces produced by Jennings Brothers, the celebrated American maker known for finely cast decorative objects and equestrian sculptures during the early 20th century.
