It was purchased new in 1957 and had only one owner since. it's a clean example of the walnut-and-cane look that made the Mainline collection a favorite of the era.

The headboard pairs richly grained walnut with two sliding doors faced in woven cane, each set in a mitered wood frame and fitted with a small round brass knob. The doors glide open to reveal storage, flanking an open central cubby — the classic bookcase-headboard layout that keeps books, a lamp, or a clock (with hole already cut for wires) within easy reach. A book-matched walnut panel spans the lower section, and the whole piece carries the warm, honeyed tone and quality craftsmanship Hooker built its reputation on.
