Offered is a copy of the 1953-54 Winter issue (No. 9) of Gentry magazine featuring a small printed tipped-in lithograph by Georges Braque (The Golden Rule Across the Ages), as well as articles about Arabian horses, classic cars and fashion, Hieronymus Bosch ("Painter of the Fantastic"), and the photography of Clarence H. White,
Published from 1951 to 1957, Gentry was a lavish, sophisticated, high-concept men's lifestyle and fashion quarterly founded by publisher William C. Segal. Famed for its tactile and avant-garde production, it folded after 22 issues due to high production costs and financial losses.
The magazine was famous for its modernist graphic design, utilizing varied paper stocks, gatefolds, and physical insertions—such as actual fabric swatches in clothing ads, packets of seeds, or miniature booklets. Beyond standard menswear and sports, it covered high art, philosophy, literature, and travel.
