The front features three practical drawers of identical size, each framed by a refined gilt border. The spherical drawer pulls and the decorative brass caps at the base of the legs are made of solid brass, while an elegant burnished brass gallery surrounds and protects the marble top. The four tapered legs lend the piece a graceful sense of lightness and refinement. The entire structure is crafted from solid oak, a wood highly prized for its exceptional strength, durability, and stability. For centuries, oak has been favored in the production of fine furniture designed to stand the test of time. The deep black lacquer finish enhances the cabinet's sophisticated appearance, giving it a distinctive and timeless character. The top is fitted with an exquisite slab of Bianco Statuario di Carrara marble, one of the most prestigious and sought-after varieties of marble quarried in the Apuan Alps near Carrara, Tuscany, Italy. Renowned for its remarkable purity and exceptionally low level of impurities, Statuario marble was formed approximately 200 million years ago, when what is now northern Tuscany lay beneath an ancient sea. Over millions of years, calcareous marine sediments were transformed under immense pressure and heat into this extraordinary natural stone, distinguished by its luminous white background and delicate crystalline structure. Universally recognized as one of the world's finest marbles, Statuario has been the material of choice for history's greatest sculptors, including Michelangelo, Donatello, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and Antonio Canova, who selected it for many of their most celebrated masterpieces because of its extraordinary purity and ethereal elegance. This bedside table was handcrafted between 1880 and 1885 by an artisan workshop in Liffol-le-Grand, located in the Vosges department of northeastern France, now part of the Grand Est region. The Napoleon III style revived the formal grandeur and symmetry of the First Empire while embracing the eclectic taste that defined the second half of the nineteenth century. The result was a refined and richly decorative aesthetic that perfectly reflected the artistic, cultural, and economic prosperity of France during the Second Empire. The piece has been carefully hand-restored by our team of skilled craftsmen using traditional techniques and is presented in excellent condition. Despite its compact dimensions, the harmonious proportions, premium materials, and refined craftsmanship make this bedside table an elegant and versatile furnishing. It can be seamlessly incorporated into both traditional and contemporary interiors, adding an authentic touch of French sophistication and timeless charm. Dimensions: Width 15.75 in.
