Of the 24 scenes … Read more An incredible version of Royal Doulton's "Blue Children" series, known now as "Babes in the Woods". Of the 24 scenes in this series, this is #15, titled 'Girl Rummaging in Mother's Basket' and was made around 1909. The series spans from 1890 and 1930 and was a combination of transfer and hand painting on a variety of porcelain items from vases to jardinières to plates. Most, like this one, has a gilded rim.

This vase is in remarkable condition for its age, with no chips or cracks found. The details are remarkable in the facial expressions, folds in the clothing and the specifics of the scenery. There are numbers impressed on the base of the piece that can be seen but did not photograph.
It stands 10" tall and comes from a smoke-free home. See less
