Original limited-edition Japanese woodblock by Haku Maki (1924–2000), titled “Collection-2.” The composition depicts a highly textured, embossed vessel against a … Read more Original limited-edition Japanese woodblock by Haku Maki (1924–2000), titled “Collection-2.” The composition depicts a highly textured, embossed vessel against a deep black ground with subtle ochre, rust, yellow and red accents. Pencil signed lower right, titled lower center, numbered 64/203 lower left, and bearing the artist’s red seal within the image. Haku Maki is particularly recognized for his distinctive use of heavy embossing and texture in modern Japanese printmaking. Another example of “Collection-2,” edition 46/203, is documented in auction records. Presented under glass with a linen-textured mat and dark wood frame. Visible condition is good overall with light age-related wear, scattered marks and discoloration to the mat, and minor scratches and finish wear to the frame.
