Antique late 1800s/early 1900s folk art picture frame featuring an architectural geometric design constructed from layered wooden slats with hand-painted gold decoration.
Unlike traditional chip carved tramp art, this example is built from overlapping wood sections that create an open lattice composition. The dark stained wood is decorated with hand-painted gold ornament including repeating arrowhead motifs, stylized foliate borders, and geometric accents, reflective of late Victorian Eastlake and Aesthetic Movement design. Screw eyes on the reverse for hanging wire.
