A superb 19th-century french chateau giltwood wall mirror featuring an exceptionally versatile form that can be displayed either horizontally (landscape) or vertically (portrait). The rectangular frame is elegantly adorned with deep-relief carvings of classical scrolls and detailed floral motifs accenting each corner and the central points. This striking antique mirror retains its highly desirable original glass, displaying a characterful and graduated foxing that adds immense historic depth and charm. The frame preserves its original gilding and authentic patina, with the warm red bole undertones beautifully showing through the gold leaf finish. For added structural integrity and modern placement, the mirror has been fitted with a new backboard and four wall-fixing brackets.
