This is a vintage hand woven reversible Aguayo wool cloth used by the Andean women to carry babies and goods. This piece which is approximately 46" by 40" was purchased in Cuzco in the early 1980's and was not new then, so probably at least 50 years old. The color has slightly faded and there are blue stain spots here and there, also a hole (see photos 1 & 7) and some curling to the edges. All in all the kind of wear that one would expect from a well used cloth but still a beautiful example of the weaving expertise of the ancient Andean culture.
From a non smoking but pet friendly home.
