Handsome vintage wingback chair by Baker Furniture, upholstered throughout in richly patinated dark brown leather. The chair features a tall sculptural back, pronounced wings, gracefully rolled arms, and extensive antiqued brass nailhead trim following its distinctive silhouette. A loose leather seat cushion rests over a traditional sprung seat foundation, and warm-finished exposed wood base with stretchers complete the classic design.
The leather has developed beautiful tonal variation and character with age, ranging from deep espresso brown to warmer cognac and burgundy undertones depending upon the light. Substantial in both scale and presence, this would make an exceptional statement chair for a traditional library, private study, executive office, reading room, or refined living space.
The original Baker Furniture label remains beneath the seat cushion.

A surface scratch is present on the upper back and is shown clearly in the close up photograph. Although visible upon close inspection, it blends into the leathers naturally varied patina and is not particularly noticeable when the chair is viewed from a normal distance in a furnished interior. There is discoloration to the fabric decking beneath the removable seat cushion; this area is completely concealed when the cushion is in place, and the cushion’s fabric underside remains notably clean. The frame is sturdy and the chair presents beautifully overall. less
