The porcelain is embellished with raised decorative details and architectural-style gilt handles, creating a richly layered, romantic appearance. The floral decoration continues around the body, making the lamp attractive from multiple angles.
A particularly striking feature is the elaborate antiqued metal base, with pierced scrolling ornamentation and deeply embossed floral and foliate motifs. The warm aged patina of the metal complements the porcelain's gilt decoration beautifully. A dark patinated metal cap, stem, and harp complete the traditional silhouette.
The porcelain's decoration and form are reminiscent of early Japanese export porcelain in the Nippon/Meiji tradition; however, no maker's mark has been verified, so the lamp is being offered as an unattributed vintage porcelain piece.
At 27.5 inches tall, this is a substantial and highly decorative table lamp that would make a wonderful statement on a console, side table, nightstand, or in a traditional living room or bedroom. Its romantic floral palette works especially well in Grandmillennial, Hollywood Regency, traditional, French-inspired, and collected eclectic interiors. See less
