a particularly decorative piece, resting on a pedestal foot.

its generous and architectural form is emphasized by two wide, openwork handles depicting foliate scrolls.
the body is adorned with a rich, dreamlike relief decoration composed of horses or lions, scrolls, rosettes, foliage, rocaille volutes, cartouches, and plant motifs.
the tall pedestal foot echoes this same ornamental vocabulary with acanthus leaves, sculpted ribs and scrolls, to which winged angels' heads are added, before flaring out onto a gently undulating quadrangular base.

the domed lid is also lavishly decorated with animal and plant motifs in relief, including four horses or lions, all surmounted by a sculpted finial in the shape of a bud or plant shoot.

beneath the base is the signature with a crowned "n" accompanied by the inscription "made in italy," a mark traditionally associated with italian pieces produced in the capodimonte style during the late first half of the 20th century.

a truly beautiful decorative piece, both theatrical and elegant, ideal as a show tureen, centerpiece, fruit bowl, or decorative object.

in very good condition, no chips or cracks, the reliefs have developed a patina and darkened with age, and there are minor scuffs.
