A striking vintage three-panel folding floor screen by Maitland-Smith, retaining its original “Maitland-Smith – Hand Made – Philippines” manufacturer’s label.
This substantial decorative screen combines three tall mirrored panels with richly finished wood frames and woven natural-fiber panels along the lower portion. Rows of dark decorative nailheads border the frames, while hand-applied painted detailing adds another layer of visual interest and reflects the craftsmanship for which vintage Maitland-Smith furnishings are known.
Each of the three sections features a generously proportioned vertical mirror above a tightly woven natural-fiber panel. Hinged construction allows the screen to be positioned at varying angles, making it equally suitable as a room divider, dressing screen, decorative architectural accent or oversized floor mirror.
The warm reddish-brown wood finish, aged brass-tone hinges, dark nailhead accents and organic woven panels give the piece a sophisticated global/traditional character associated with Maitland-Smith’s decorative furnishings.
The reverse is finished in dark wood, and the original Maitland-Smith manufacturer’s label remains intact, confirming the piece was hand made in the Philippines.
A particularly attractive statement piece for a bedroom, dressing room, entry, living room or large interior where both height and architectural presence are desired.
