Here is a fabulous 1940s three-piece vanity set by John Stuart, complete with its original mirror and coordinating bentwood stool. Crafted in a warm blonde wood, the vanity has a wonderfully clean, modern silhouette with six drawers and beautifully shaped metal pulls.
I am especially smitten with the curves on this one. The softly rounded edge of the vanity top is echoed in the arched mirror and sculptural bentwood sides of the stool, giving the entire set a wonderful sense of continuity. The stool seat has just been professionally recovered in a rich rusty orange velvet—a warm pop of color that looks fantastic against the blonde wood.
The vanity is equally lovely without the mirror and could easily be used as a writing desk, making it an especially versatile piece. With its compact proportions, generous storage, and thoughtful details, it is both incredibly useful and just really good-looking.
