Hand-sculpted with expressive organic movement and raw tactile texture, this vintage studio pottery vase features an asymmetrical, twisting stoneware silhouette rooted in Japanese Wabi-Sabi and Brutalist traditions. The vessel is detailed with intricate hand-incised spiral carvings, impressed dot ribbons, and stamped floral medallion rosettes. A dramatic contrast of finishes envelops the body, blending an earthy, unglazed oatmeal and tan textured wash with a lustrous dark tenmoku-brown slip glaze, anchored over a hand-carved terracotta foot rim.
An ideal sculptural accent for a display shelf, credenza, fireplace mantel, console table, or curio cabinet, this one-of-a-kind art pottery piece brings rich artisanal character to Wabi-Sabi, Brutalist, Mid-Century Modern, Organic Modern, or Bohemian interiors. To care for the studio pottery surfaces, gentle dusting with a soft brush or dry microfiber cloth is recommended, avoiding harsh chemical cleansers or submersion in water. Dimensions measure 6.25 inches in width, 6.75 inches in depth, and 9.6 inches in total height. The vase is in very good vintage condition, structurally sound and completely intact without chips, cracks, or repairs, displaying natural kiln firing effects, organic glaze pooling, and subtle age-appropriate patina consistent with original studio craftsmanship. Inquire today to add this striking brutalist ceramic vase to your art pottery collection.
