There is something wonderfully transportive about these. They feel like the kind of glasses you might have found beside a teak bar in a 1960s Palm Springs home, in the cocktail lounge of a glamorous mid-century hotel, or filled with something cold and tropical during the golden age of jet-set entertaining. The clear glass keeps the design light and sophisticated, while the softly frosted bamboo stalks and leaves give each glass an unmistakable mid-century exoticism. It is subtle rather than kitschy — elegant enough for a beautifully styled cocktail bar, but unusual enough to immediately catch the eye.

Each glass bears the recognizable Federal Glass Company “F in shield” maker’s mark on the base. Federal Glass was an American glass manufacturer known for producing some of the most recognizable everyday and decorative glassware of the 20th century, and its shield mark began appearing on its wares in the 1930s. The bamboo decoration feels especially at home among the design influences of the postwar era, when American interiors embraced tropical motifs, Asian-inspired decoration and the escapism of tiki and resort culture.
