A striking example of 1970s Canadian Brutalist design, this sculptural headboard by Tobago Furniture combines the warmth of richly figured walnut with bold, architectural detailing. Tobago is known for distinctive Canadian-made Mid-Century furniture, with surviving examples of its Brutalist headboards commonly dated to the 1970s.
The focal point is the dramatic three-dimensional geometric façade, composed of individually shaped and layered wood panels arranged in an abstract pattern of sweeping curves, arcs, and intersecting forms. The varying depths create beautiful shadow and movement across the surface, giving the headboard an almost carved, architectural quality. Color in 2,3 pics are on point.
