The low rectangular form is finished with deeply molded, stepped sides that give the box an unusually substantial appearance. A hinged lid opens to a simple spacious interior suitable for letters, photographs, documents, desk supplies, jewelry, or other keepsakes. Small brass hinges with slotted screws and an old oxidized nail head add to its period character. An attractive functional piece for a desk, library, dresser, or coffee table.

Measures approximately 10.5" W × 8.5" D × 2.5" H.
