A striking set of four vintage blue velvet and brass dining armchairs by Carson’s of High Point, North Carolina, circa 1980s.
Each chair features a dramatic, sculptural high back upholstered in richly saturated sapphire-blue velvet, paired with sweeping brass-plated metal arms and architectural front legs. The backs taper gracefully toward the seat before extending into a distinctive flared lower profile, creating an especially compelling silhouette when viewed from behind.
The polished golden frames curve around generously upholstered seats and are finished with matching padded armrests, balancing crisp geometric lines with exceptional visual warmth. Their combination of jewel-toned upholstery, gleaming metal, and exaggerated proportions captures the glamour of American postmodern furniture and the enduring influence of Hollywood Regency and Art Deco Revival design.
Manufactured by Carson’s of High Point, an established North Carolina furniture maker known for contemporary upholstered seating, the chairs retain their original manufacturer’s label. The underside care label bears an April 1983 copyright.
Equally suited to a formal dining room, a round games table, a sophisticated office, or a statement-making breakfast room, these sculptural vintage armchairs pair beautifully with glass, burl wood, marble, black lacquer, and brass-accented interiors. Their fully upholstered backs make them particularly attractive in open-plan spaces where the chairs can be appreciated from every angle.
Offered as a matching set of four.
