An oval porcelain plaque, hand-painted in the KPM manner in the late 19th century, after Gustav Richter's Neapolitan Fisher Boy. … Read more An oval porcelain plaque, hand-painted in the KPM manner in the late 19th century, after Gustav Richter's Neapolitan Fisher Boy. The sitter turns toward a pale banded sky, dark hair loose, a gold hoop at the ear and an amber cabochon on a red cord at the throat. The flesh tones are carefully graded.

The period giltwood and gesso frame is original to the piece: deep C-scrolls, applied floral sprays at the corners, a twisted-rope and gadrooned inner surround. The gilding is untouched and has worn softly at the high points.

The reverse carries an impressed K1 mark. KPM style German export porcelain; no KPM Berlin scepter mark is present. Some pencil and other illegible markings faintly visible.

Works on a gallery wall, a shelf ledge, or on its own in a small room.

Very good antique condition. Porcelain sound, no visible chips or cracks. Frame has stable cracking. All condition points shown in the photographs. See less
