Referencing the fragmented human forms of classical antiquity, the figures are reduced to compact, expressive silhouettes with beautifully contrasting contours.

The pyrite gives each sculpture a richly variegated metallic surface, shifting between charcoal, pewter, silver and muted gold as the light changes. Natural crystalline inclusions and subtle differences in coloration ensure that no two surfaces are alike.

Weighing more than eight pounds collectively, the sculptures have genuine physical presence despite their compact scale. Their substantial weight and opposing male and female forms also allow them to function beautifully as an unconventional pair of bookends.
