It is made of … Read more An Edwardian period folding cake stand made in England at the beginning of the 20th century. It is made of mahogany with delicate satinwood inlay on the frame and the plates. The plates fold down so that the piece will occupy the minimum of space when not in use. While called cake stands these pieces were used when entertaining for plates of small cakes and pastries, finger sandwiches, and other refreshments. Dimensions below are for the the stand with the plates folded down. The plate heights are 6.25", 16", and 25.5". The plates measure 8.75" in diameter. See less
