A beautiful rectangular opaline overlay jewelry box dating from the 19th century.
The casket is formed from white opaline over rich emerald-green glass and decorated with numerous hand-cut oval and circular openings revealing the brilliant green layer beneath. The exterior is further embellished with delicate hand-painted floral sprays, scrolling decoration and gilt highlights.
The box is mounted in finely decorated gilt metal with its original hinged construction and clasp. Opening the casket reveals a striking emerald-green glass interior, while the underside of the lid displays the reverse of the cut overlay decoration.
