An early 18th century Dutch Delftware charger, hand painted in rich cobalt blue on a white ground. The center features a stylized dragon surrounded by dense foliage, while the wide border is decorated with alternating floral reserves and a geometric diaper pattern.
The Japanese inspired decoration reflects the influence of imported Asian porcelain on Dutch ceramics during this period. Dating to circa 1700, the charger displays surface wear, rim losses and historic staple repairs consistent with its considerable age. These early repairs have become part of the piece’s history and character.
