They most certainly can … Read more I left these vintage 'Eales 1779' Silver-platter small oval serving platters in their original worn condition. They most certainly can be polished up to a gleaming shine for those who want a more dazzling appearance. The smaller of the platters has floral scroll handles, not often seen from this era. I can imagine the smaller platter with warm sliced bread or rolls ready to be served. The larger platter containing cruite` arranged so neatly with silver tongs to serve its delicacies'. All set within a silver and china set from days of old, when times were simpler but we worked for what we had. I bought these platters from an antique store in Baker, OR. where the old west can still be felt like a whisper in your ear. The Larger platter is 2 H x 9 W x 11 L. The smaller platter is 2 H x 7 W x 11 L. They now make great entry way table dishes to catch keys, change, lighters, hair doodles, or chargers for the phone. See less
