Purple Heron: Adult and Young from the Princeton Audubon Limited Edition, a limited-edition modern reproduction of one of John James Audubon’s celebrated images from The Birds of America.
This example is numbered 1261 of an edition of 1500. The composition depicts the adult and young Purple Heron within Audubon’s richly observed natural habitat, combining dramatic scale, botanical detail, and the extraordinary ornithological imagery for which The Birds of America is renowned.
The lower left reproduces the original attribution “Drawn from Nature & Published by John J. Audubon, F.R.S. F.L.S.” The lower right bears the embossed blind stamp of the Princeton Audubon Limited Edition, identifying the edition limit of 1500, alongside the historic credit line “Engraved, Printed, & Coloured by R. Havell, 1835.”
Beautifully custom-framed with a wide white mat, substantial walnut wood frame and UV-resistant glass, giving the piece the scale and architectural presence associated with Audubon’s iconic bird imagery.
