Late Victorian/Edwardian carved mahogany settee, probably circa 1890–1910, with strong Chippendale/Queen Anne Revival influence.
The standout feature is the elaborate pierced cresting. Those paired creatures appear to be carved griffins/winged mythical beasts flanking cartouche-like medallions. Combined with the cabriole front legs terminating in carved feet, turned stretchers, spindle sides, shaped solid splats and broad solid seat, this was considerably more ambitious than an ordinary parlor bench.
