This Koken barber chair has been in our living room for 4 decades. It has mostly been a decorative, conversation piece. This original velvet-like upholstery is maroon with a floral pattern. It says, “Koken Barbers’ Supply Co, St. Louis, Patent. The silver footrest has an attractive floral and vine design. The oak wood pedestal is very beautiful and really stands out.
The hydraulic pump handle is a side lever that moves up and down, but does not move the chair. It may need hydraulic fluid. The swivel works fine. The maroon upholstery is a little faded, mostly on the seat itself. The oak wood is very pretty, in great condition, and has interesting designs. The antique hardware is an attractive silver color, possibly nickel. The headrest is also nicely upholstered. The headrest raises up and down, but the “catch” to hold it in place is missing. The footrest is in beautiful, excellent condition and hinges up and down nicely. There are felt pads on all four feet.

When we first bought the chair years ago, it did work. Maybe fluid needs to be added -- I don't know. Also, the headrest stops are not there, which is probably a simple fix. Chairish would not take "Koken" as a brand, but that is what it is. less
