This beautiful altar with carrara marble top would have been used in a French church as early as the 1700s. The white marble with gray veining has a thick quarter-round molding on all four sides, matching the thicker bombe contour of the white painted wood beneath. The bombe form was common during the Rococo phase of Louis XV, and it is paired with a large painted shell on the facade.
