The curved lines of the legs and the relief-decorated aprons create a cohesive and clearly proportioned pair of tables. Historical context: Nesting tables—tables of varying sizes that can be placed inside one another—originated from 18th-century English models and became an integral part of bourgeois interior design in the 20th century. They offered flexible surface space in the parlor and living room, which could be pushed together to save space when needed. In the mid-20th century, numerous brass versions with marble tops were produced in France and Central Europe, reviving historical 18th-century styles through mass production and making them available for prestigious living spaces.

Features: Finely relief-decorated moldings with palmette motifs on the aprons of both tables. Caberole legs with acanthus relief, terminating in curved volute feet. Design: The tables follow the formal vocabulary of the Louis XV style: curved cabriole legs, vegetal relief ornamentation, and a dynamic yet symmetrically ordered design. The light marble tops form a calm contrast to the ornamented brass frame; the two sizes are proportionally coordinated.

Dimensions: Larger table: Height 40 × Width 43 × Depth 33 cm. Material and condition: Brass, white marble tops with subtle veining. Used condition, well-preserved with age-appropriate patina on the brass. One marble top was cracked and was professionally repaired by Kastellan; the top rests securely, and the repair is visible in the photos. Overall, inspected, cleaned, treated appropriately for the materials, structurally checked, and safe for stability and function. See less
