Ib Kofod Larsen was a Danish architect and furniture designer. After studying architecture at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, the young designer opened his own studio in Copenhagen. He collaborated with furniture manufacturers in Germany, Sweden, Japan, the USA, and Great Britain, and exhibited throughout Europe and the USA. Some of the most experimental designs of Danish Modern design came from the creative mind of Ib Kofod Larsen. Among his best-known works are the Elizabeth Chair (1956) and the Seal Chair (1955). The designer's sculptural works are now among the most sought-after pieces by collectors and gallery owners worldwide.
The rocking chair offered here, model 650-15, was designed by Kofod Larsen in 1965 for the Christian Linneberg Møbelfabrik. The sculptural design is distinguished by its boomerang-shaped armrests and its high, spindle-shaped backrest. The frame is made of solid teak. The loose cushions are covered in light-colored wool.
