Seated Buddha figure executed in silver-plated metal with a meditative pose, detailed ornamental drapery and a decorative lotus-shaped base. Origin: Asia. Material: Silver-plated metal. Dimensions: H. 15 cm, D. 8 cm, L. 10 cm. Period: 19th century. Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear. Metal Buddha figures have been a central part of Buddhist art in Asia for centuries. Seated representations were created according to traditional iconographic principles, in which posture, hand gestures and ornamentation carried symbolic meaning. Silver-plated surfaces gave these sculptures a distinctive luminous and decorative appearance while highlighting the finely modelled details. See less
