Seated Buddhist figure executed in patinated bronze with an elaborate headdress, pierced halo and lotus flower at the shoulder. The figure rests on a richly modelled lotus-shaped base. Origin: Asia. Material: Bronze. Dimensions: H. 30 cm, D. 16 cm, L. 28 cm. Period: 19th century. Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear. Small hole on the base. Buddhist bronze figures from the 19th century were created according to traditional iconographic principles, in which attributes, hand gestures and lotus motifs carried particular symbolic meaning. The detailed modelling and pierced ornamentation reflect a long Asian tradition. See less
