Dramatic rocky peaks rise above pine trees and flowering branches, creating a beautifully graphic interpretation of a traditional East Asian landscape.

The pleated paper fan is mounted on deep burgundy-red wooden ribs and guards, giving the piece a particularly handsome contrast and substantial architectural presence. Its generous scale makes it especially effective as wall art above a console, sofa, bed or mantel. Hanging loops are present on the reverse for display.

A wonderful example of the Asian-inspired decorative arts popular in sophisticated interiors during the 1970s and 1980s, with a look that works equally well in Chinoiserie, Hollywood Regency, traditional or eclectic interiors.

Vintage condition with age-related toning and patina to the paper. There are several splits/tears along the folds, particularly near the lower portion of the fan, as shown in the photographs. Minor wear is also present to the painted wooden elements. These imperfections are consistent with age and do not detract from its dramatic decorative impact when displayed. See less
