It is a 1925 lithograph of the famous music hall entertainer Mistinguette. Mistinguette was a lengendary actress and singer who was the queen of French music halls. She was the highest paid female entertainer in the world during the 1920s-1930s. She performed at the Moulin Rouge and the Casino de Paris She wore giant feathered headdresses and long sequined costumes as she made her grand entrances in theater productions. She is highly recognizeable and an iconic figure in Parisian nightlife. Charles Gesmar was a poster artist and costume designer in Paris who was Mistinguette's principal designer. He created thousands of theater costumes and promotional posters fir her in his short life of only 27 years! (He died from pneumonia.) This lithograph is original to 1925. It had limited ciculation at the time, making this a RARE Art Deco publication of a music hall spectacle in Paris. It is vibrant and clean. It is in very good antique condition with some minor discoloration aging along the edges. The strong imagery and contrasting red and black colors are dynamic as is the headline..."BONJOUR PARIS" 9.25 x 11.75 inches in size.
