Walter Shirlaw (Scotland, 1838-1909) "Italia" etching on paper, published in 1883 by the New York Etching Club.

Shirlaw was born in Scotland and immigrated with his parents to America soon after. He was one of the first instructors at the Art Students League of New York, a member of the National Academy of Design, and a founder of the Society of American Artists. Shirlaw moved to Spain in 1904 and died there in 1909.
"Italia" is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum in New York and Syracuse University Art Museum. The vertical version of the same scene is in the collection of the Detroit Institute of Art.
