A beautiful bone china Ascot shaped set in the highly coveted Summertime pattern. This vibrant chintz pattern depicts densely packed summer garden flowers, featuring large pink roses, yellow buttercups /marigolds and delicate blue forget-me-nots over a cream background. They are elegantly finished with a hand -painted gold gilt rim. This specific fluted silhouette with a high, scrolled handle and pedestal foot is known as the Ascot shape. I love the all-over chintz pattern and the gold accents. The backstamp dates to the original production run between the 1930's and 1950's. This backstamp includes an "A" which was the specific code assigned to Grimwades by the government during wartime. The inclusion of this letter narrows down the production date to 1942 to the early 1950's.
Sugar bowl is 2.75” wide and deep, 2.25” tall.
Creamer is 4.75” wide, 3” deep and 2.5” tall.
